WRESTLING NEWS FLASH - April 9th, 2008:
Lakeshore will be hosting a mini wrestling clinic on Monday, April 21, from 6-8+. Leroy Vega former 4 time All American and Captain of the 2002 National Champions, University of Minnesota wrestling team will be the clinician. St. Joe Kids Wrestling Clinic
Get started in the world's oldest and greatest sport
Open to all Students in Grades 1 - 6
Dates: Mon 3/17, Wed 3/19, Mon 3/24 and Wed 3/26
Times: 6:00 - 8:00 pm (Late registration is 5:30-6:30pm on 3/17)
Location: Varsity Wrestling Room - St. Joe High School Fieldhouse
Price: $25 (each additional sibling is only $15). Includes clinic T-Shirt and Certificate of Participation
Description: Our emphasis during the clinic will be on the basics of the sport including positioning, takedowns, escapes, reversals, and pinning combinations. We will not be openly competing during the clinic; Our emphasis will be on teaching and learning (and fun!). Instruction will be provided by the high school coaching staff as well as by current varsity wrestlers.

The WRESTLING BANQUET will be held this Thursday March 13th beginning at 5:30 pm in the St. Joe High School cafeteria. Dinner begins at 6:00pm and the program will begin at 7:00pm. Dinner cost is $10/person. Dinner is free to wrestlers and coaches. Any questions, contact Tina Pendergrass or Rhonda Vitale. Hope to see all of you there!

WRESTLING NEWS FLASH - February 17, 2008: 5:00pm:
The season is over for all but two St. Joe High School wrestlers. There will a after season PIZZA PARTY held at the St. Joe Pizza Hut on Niles Avenue on Tuesday evening (2/19) at 6;30pm. Parents/families are welcome. Booster's Club is paying for pizza for all team members (Varsity and JV). See ya there !!

WRESTLING NEWS FLASH - February 7, 2008 8:00pm:
Upton Bears Wrestling Update from Coach Robinson:
Tuesday Feb. 5th, 2008. In a mega meet with Coloma, Eau Claire, Lakeshore and an unexpected Cassopolis. The Upton gym saw over a 1000 wrestlers battle it out.
Winning two matches for the mighty Bears was Griggin Hocker and Chris Ketchmark. Wining a match for Upton: Justin Burnett,David Melendez,
Casey Curran, Montana Zentz, and David Bluschke.
The Bears next oppents will be in Lancers country verus Lakeshore, South Haven, Allegan Thursday Feb 7th. Wrestling starts about 4:30.
The Bears next home meet will be Monday Feb 11th with Niles and Coloma coming to the Bear Den.

St. Joseph Public Schools are closed today!
The Varsity/JV wrestling match with Niles has been RESCHEDULED for tomorrow night (Thursday Jan 31st) at 6pm. Wrestlers are to report to the high school at 5:00pm. Then at 6:00pm, we'll begin with the introduction of our senior wrestlers and their parents. Wrestling will begin immediately after that!

Way to go St. Joe Wrestling Boosters Club! Last Saturday they donated $200 to Lakeshore wrestler - Zac Shoenbach who escaped serious injury in a car accident this past week to help him get his vehicle repaired/replaced. Lakeshore head coach Bruce Bittenbender and Zac thanked the St. Joe Boosters publically before the start of the varsity match for their generosity.

St. Joseph MYWA Wrestling Club
The St. Joseph MYWAY Wrestling Club is in place to provide youth from 3rd grade to 6th grade the opportunity to learn the sport of Wrestling. Our mission is to not only teach our athletes proper wrestling techniques, but to promote good sportsmanship, self-discipline, and integrity.
The St. Joseph MYWAY Wrestling Club practices every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm sign ups before and after at Upton Jr. High School back Gym balcony. From December to late March. |
SIGN-UP INFORMATION
When: Practices will be starting Dec. 4th Tuesday & Thursday thereafter.
Cost: $50.00 for families with one participant or $75.00 for families of two or more participants.*Additional expenses: tournament entry fees, wrestling shoes, head gear and uniforms*
